VeriDAS Completed Public Safety DAS System Installation for Omaha Box Company/ Liberty Packaging

The newly constructed 335,000 square foot production facility and corporate offices for Omaha Box Company/ Liberty Packaging in Papillion, Nebraska required an IFC 510 compliant Public Safety DAS (Distributed Antenna System). VeriDAS Technologies was selected to engineer, design, install and certify the code-required in-building Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) to extend, amplify and optimize public safety RF signal inside the large warehouse and office space.

PROJECT

Omaha Box Company/ Liberty Packaging, a manufacturer of custom corrugated cardboard boxes, cartons and displays, has been outgrowing its original 190,000 square feet facility ever since it was founded in 1890. In 2019, company built a new, modern 335,000 square foot warehouse/ production facility in nearby Omaha suburb, Papillion, Nebraska, in Sarpy County.

The new $45 million manufacturing facility is designed to increase efficiencies, accommodate new, upgraded equipment and support its continually growing workforce, production capacity and warehousing/ distribution needs. The new building also required an IFC 510 compliant Public Safety DAS system to ensure emergency responder radios will work throughout the expansive site that includes:

  • 301,000 sq. ft. of warehouse/ production space
  • 27,000 sq. ft. of office space
  • 26 dock doors & 2 drive-in doors
  • 123 vehicle parking spots
  • 10 trailer storage spots
SCOPE

The new Omaha Box Company/ Liberty Packaging production facility required a Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in order to meet Sarpy County’s enforcement of building & fire codes for IFC 510 Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERRCS). VeriDAS was selected for the project that included:

  • Public Safety DAS/ ERRCS Engineering, Design, Installation, Commissioning, Validation, Testing & Certification
  • Project Management and Coordination with Electrical Contractors & Fire Alarm Contractors
  • FCC Certified bi-directional amplifiers (BDAs) signal boosters
  • PIM Certified In-building Omni-directional Antennas
  • UL Certified Compliant Battery Backup Systems
  • P25 800 MHz DAS System
  • RF 20-Grid Signal Coverage Testing & DAS Certification
  • AHJ Inspection & Acceptance Testing Facilitation
  • Submittal Package
RESULTS

VeriDAS worked with the building developer and owner of Omaha Box Company/ Liberty Packaging in Papillion, Nebraska to install an IFC 510 compliant Public Safety DAS system in the company’s new 335,000 square foot production facility and corporate offices. The in-building Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System successfully met all technical and regulatory specifications and project requirements:

  1. Public Safety DAS System Installation: Certified by VeriDAS Technologies
  2. 20 Grid RF Signal Coverage Testing: Completed
  3. ERRCS: Inspected & Approved by AHJ
  4. BDA: Commissioned for P25 800 MHz first responders’ frequencies
  5. Donor Signal Strength: Acceptable per fire code & AHJ
  6. Measured Isolation: Acceptable per fire code & AHJ
  7. Battery Backup System: Tested & validated
  8. Alarm Panel: Tested & validated
  9. Submittals: Delivered
