Public Safety Distributed Antenna System for New Lowe's Distribution Center Near Houston

VeriDAS Installs Public Safety Distributed Antenna System Near Houston Texas for New 1.5 MSF Lowe's Distribution Center

A newly constructed 1.5 million square foot Lowe's distribution center outside Houston, Texas required an IFC 510 Fire Code compliant Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) [also called an Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS)]. VeriDAS Technologies was selected to design, install and certify the code-required in-building first responder signal booster system to extend, amplify and optimize the AHJ's public safety radio system frequencies inside the expansive industrial facility.

PROJECT

VeriDAS Technologies conducted RF (radio frequency) Signal Coverage Compliance Testing to determine if the newly constructed Lowe’s facility outside Houston, Texas needed a Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) [also called an Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS)] installed to enable first responders’ radios to operate inside the expansive 1.5 million square foot facility. VeriDAS worked closely with the AHJ and public safety radio system administrator to design a signal amplification solution that would meet Fire Code requirements, the General Contractor’s construction timeline and Lowe’s opening deadline. Thanks to impressive coordination and support from the City and County, VeriDAS was able to quickly design, install, certify and secure AHJ approval on the IFC 510 compliant ERRCS. The new facility was able to complete construction and begin operations without delay.

SCOPE

The new 1.5 million square foot Lowe’s facility outside Houston, Texas required a Public Safety Distributed Antenna System [also called an Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS)] in order to comply with Fire Code/ IFC 510. VeriDAS was selected for the project that included:

  • RF Signal Coverage Compliance Testing
  • Public Safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Engineering and Design
  • Coordination with the AHJ & Public Safety Radio System Administrator
  • Coordination with the General Contractor, Electrical Contractor & Fire Alarm Contractor
  • Public Safety 700/800 MHz Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA signal boosters) in NEMA4 Enclosures
  • Public Safety 24-Hour Battery Back-Up Units (BBU) in NEMA4 Enclosures
  • Public Safety Distributed Antenna System Alarm Panels/Monitoring Systems in NEMA4 Enclosures
  • Rooftop Directional Donor Antenna & Infrastructure
  • Omnidirectional In-Building Distributed Antennas System (DAS)
  • System Installation, Commissioning, Start Up and Validation
  • AHJ Inspection & Acceptance Testing
  • Certificate of Compliance
  • System Documentation: Submittals & Closeout
  • Warranty
RESULTS

VeriDAS worked with the General Contractor of the new Goodyear logistics center outside Houston, Texas to install a Fire Code IFC 510 compliant Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) in the new 1.5 million square foot industrial facility. The ERRCS/ Public Safety DAS system successfully met all technical, regulatory and project requirements:

  1. ERRCS Installation: Installed & certified by VeriDAS
  2. 20 Grid RF Signal Coverage Test: Acceptable per Fire Code/ IFC 510 & AHJ
  3. ERRCS: Inspected & Approved by the AHJ
  4. BDA: Commissioned for the AHJ’s public safety radio frequencies
  5. Donor Signal Strength: Acceptable per Fire Code & AHJ
  6. Measured Isolation: Acceptable per Fire Code & AHJ
  7. Battery Backup System: Tested & validated
  8. DAS Alarm Panel: Tested & validated
  9. Closeout Documents: Delivered
